These are a few doodles from my History of Modern Art class that was taught last semester by Professor Brenton Good.

In college we learned that, after reviewing medical records, that VG had Miners(sic?) disease which causes ringing or hearing voices in your ears, caused by a vitamin deficiency...and it often causes the sufferers to mutilate themselves in efforts to get the sound to stop...I guess kind of how water drips on the forehead make one crazy eventually...

I also read an interesting article on his life about how he was a missionary until he got a bit too 'involved' with a prostitute...but with all the revisionist history that goes on who knows...nice to have you back and hope all has been well!

Thanks Brian. You know, art history would be more intriguing to me if we learned that kind of good stuff.

I didn't learn that about VG in art history. I must have been absent that day :P

It really is a killer sketch!
