Last Friday
The Art League at Messiah College has Last Friday instead of First Friday so that the students are able to attend off campus gallery openings and still see the student work. I started this drypoint print at 1a.m. on Friday morning because there was some extra space. I have only pulled two prints by 10a.m. and colored early in the afternoon. I am pretty thrilled about the time frame to completion.
The concept: I have entitled this piece Good Night, Good Morning. The Amen comes from the title of the exhibit. This is the last show for the seniors and the amen signifies the end. If I could cry, I would do it now. Very sad. I used the rooster to signify the new beginning that comes with the morning. So, night prayer and new beginning. I cannot believe I am going to miss this place.
The print: 7 x 10", on Rives BFK (15 x 19.5"), watercolor
This is the show's poster which was designed by Amanda Hackanson-Stacy. I think it is hilarious. Gangmembers: Amanda Dirksen, Bend Bond, Meredith Hoffheins, Amanda Hackanson-Stacy, and Krista Hamlen. Meredith and Amanda HS also designed and lead a live performance that I will work on getting the video of. I was fortunate to be in this as it was both fun and funny.

Great print! I wonder if there is any ways we could get paid to be professional college students...
I second Brian's question. The rooster image is fantastic Ammon. I really like the last Friday idea as well. I hear you about leaving college... it definitely wasn't easy saying goodbye to everyone and everything. All the best and big congrats to you and your friends!
Thanks to the both of you. College forever sounds great especially if there was money coming my way. Last Fridays have been great fun. They tend to be very informal which is the way I like things anyway.
are you seriously incapable of crying?
No, I am capable! I am actually really sad about the end of school. I just repressing the emotion.
Are you able?
no, i had my tear ducts removed when i was five. but even if i had tear ducts i am too excited about the future to be sad about the present.
