I like the closeness these two have, but I'm not sure what's going on. The drawing is wonderful, as always, but what is the guy doing to/with the bear? it can only be good!

lolo-You caught me, this had nothing to do with "open." It was just what was in my sketchbook at the time. I needed a last second entry.

See the bear's mouth? It is open a tiny bit. I guess that is as close to the subject as I came. Terrible, I know.

That guy is petting the bear, I guess.

It looks like he's hynotised the bear, who is looking quite friendly and relaxed, even with that paw raised.

If you're into bears, I definitely recommend reading Brian Payton's In Bear Country - I gave it (and a few other things) a write up here.

I thought it was about to show a lion tamer's moment where he was prepping the bear to open up to get a good close look at the doohickey that hangs in the back of his throat...
