Solid piece and really nice job on the weapon! Sometimes the detail work while using black ends up closing in the details on me. How long were you in the service for and what was your MOS? (To answer the rhino question...it was 'segmented' naturally and I knew I was going to be working in 'plates' so it was a natural fit...)
I was in for 4 years (right out of high school). My primary MOS was 0311 (rifleman).
I like rhinos. I think I started liking them whenever I first saw Durer's rhino and suddenly they went from "ehhh" to awesome. I think that it was a good choice.
The rifle did almost get away from me. I usually use diluted ink for anything that is black or gray, like the rifle, but I used gauche this time. I have never used it before and I thought it would behave like watercolor but it did not. I am glad it dried a lot lighter that it was first on there.

Great line work. Reminiscent of Jack Unruh. Nice use of color...
I admit it, Mr. Unruh is an artist that I do look up to. Actually, I look up to most artists but he is on my list of people to watch more closely.

Excellent likeness Ammon! I'll bet your friend would be tickled to have this.
